What is body image
Body image is how we feel and think about our bodies. In terms of body shape, weight, size, and appearance in general. The body image we have of ourselves can be positive or it can be negative. Based on the life experiences we may have encountered.

The way bodies are viewed in today’s world may be sexualized or expected to look a certain way to fit today’s criteria of a “normal body” .But this is all wrong, everyone is built differently and our bodies are not programmed to look the same. We all share different hereditary genetics and are unique in our way.

Having a negative body image can lead to serious issues like:

Unhealthy dieting
Negative self-talk
Eating disorders
Anxiety
Feeling of embarrassment
Constant compassion with other people
Depression

Insecurities

Insecurity is uncertainty or anxiety about oneself; a lack of confidence. There are a lot of reasons why one may feel insecure. The beauty standards that society has put on people are very toxic and usually, the main reason why we feel the way we feel about our bodies. These societal beauty standards are mostly driven by the media. Personal beliefs and past experiences also play a huge part in body image. But at some points it ok to be insecure as it prompts introspection and makes us more human as we can relate our insecurities to those close to us.
